FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The process starts with a phone call, followed by an in-person meeting at your home or local restaurant, where we can have a conversation about your legacy candidate and arrange a location for filming.
On filming day, artist Doug West will set up two cameras and lighting. He will then ask the interviewee questions to help them relax, and begin to share their story. The entire filming session generally takes 1/2 hour to 2 hours.
After the interview, he will return to his studio to create the finished video, adding in your photographs and any effects, along with music. Doug will edit all of his questions out of the film to ensure a smooth flow, allowing the legacy candidate to easily tell their story without interruption.
The final documentary will be 15 to 30 minutes, unless previous arrangements were made.
Next we will schedule a time for you to review your documentary and request any changes that you would like made.
If there are any changes, Doug will make them back at his studio. The finished work will be delivered on a DVD and two USB drives, viewable on a computer, tablet, laptop and TV. You will also get a downloadable link in your email for smartphone viewing.
The interview usually takes less than an hour, and editing is done in the artist’s studio, preparing for delivery.
No. When it comes to filming these events, we let the videographers handle this. Our expertise is in taking the raw video you give us and turning your story into a Legacy Film.
Videotaping weddings, graduations, or family anniversaries are always better suited for videographers. …we will include the video in your Legacy Film of course and make that event part of your story. Our focus is to turn your story into a mini-movie; a Legacy Film.
